According to a CBS poll, 59% of Americans aren't comfortable with Transgender people using the bathroom of their choice

According to a CBS News Poll, conducted among 1,016 adults nationwide, the majority of Americans (59%) are not comfortable with the idea of transgender students picking which bathroom or locker to use, and think that they should use the facilities of the gender of their birth.

Meanwhile 26% believed that they should be allowed to use the bathrooms and lockers of their preferred gender.

Women at (29%) were slightly more accepting of the idea then men at (23%)

Unsurprisingly rather than gender, age seemed to be a more determining factor as only 23% of Americans aged 30 and over think transgender people should be able to choose which facilities to use, compared to 35% of Americans under 30.

Politics also seems to play a role. Republicans at (71%) are more likely than Democrats (56%) and independents (55%) to think transgender students should have to use the bathroom and lockers of their birth gender, as are conservatives (69%) in comparison to liberals (50%) and moderates (55%).
